Mr. Shinkawa joined Advantage Partners in January 2025. Prior to joining Advantage Partners, Mr. Shinkawa held the position of Chief Fund Manager at Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management Company, Limited (SMDAM), where he was responsible for managing real estate and REIT fund investments across the Asia-Pacific region. He was instrumental in growing the funds’ assets under management to over JPY 300 billion, spearheading the company’s global expansion, particularly into the U.S. and Europe, and playing a pivotal role in developing an ESG investment framework. He was based in Singapore for a period of nine years. Prior to joining SMDAM, he worked as an equity analyst at Nikko Salomon Smith Barney Limited (currently Citigroup Securities) and SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., focusing on the real estate and construction sectors. He graduated from Ritsumeikan University with B.A. in International Relations. He holds an MBA from the National University of Singapore Business School and is also a Certified Member Analyst of SAAJ.
